Amazing Will
(Plain verse inspired by the poignant motion picture, "Amazing Grace.")

With force of will
Will Wilberforce
courageously
changed England's course.
He gave the Crown
a humbled head
that would in time
deem slavery dead.
Amazing Grace
fell from his lips
although his joy
had been eclipsed
by chronic illness,
searing pain
and critics who
demeaned his fame.
Will's pastor
helped his understand
that God can work
through just one man.
That politics
(without one plea)
can be a sacred
ministry.
John Newton knew
the curse of sin
but also how life
starts again
when rebel hearts
give up their rights
and battle wrongs
with all their might.
Amazing Will
made history.
I pray the same
is said of me.
A man of God
who modeled grace
and saw his Lord
in every face.
