My dear dad walked by faith a lot! You see, he COULDN'T see...not very well, most of his life. As a family, we "saw" for him, we drove for him, we read to him, we walked with him. In his later years, he became legally blind...but he COULD see...more than some of us with good vision! He had the "eyes of faith" - and he "walked by faith," not only relying physically on those around him, but relying spiritually on the God above him.
Dad loved the Word of God. He memorized large portions of it; it was hid in his heart. His large-print Bibles were well-worn; his well-loved set of Scripture tapes became the same in his retirement years. Yes, Dad "walked by faith" and I cherish the rich, deep heritage I've been given, a treasure you can't buy with the nickels and dimes of this world!
But the story goes on, for Grandpa has grandkids! Joey, a champion Bible Quizzer, follows in Grandpa's footsteps with a great love for God's Word. Then there's Jason...he follows in the same footsteps too--only HE'S been known to march when he's not supposed to...You see, while in the high school marching band, he was recovering from knee surgery, still has on a leg brace--but so what, thinks this teenage brain....and so, we discovered, to our dismay, that he had been MARCHING in band practice...not a good thing YET...and HIS footsteps had been HALTED by the establishment until the DOCTOR gave him his "marching orders."
Whether we walk, march, skip, run or race - WHATEVER! - God wants us all to "walk by faith, not by sight." It's a challenge to be sure, but what an adventure to "walk with God." We can trust Him to be faithful, not to lead us astray, to guide us as a seeing-eye dog guides the blind, to "march" with us, in the face of the enemy, all the way to Zion...can't you hear us all singing, "We're Marching to Zion?" - of course, with Jason leading the way, leg brace and all!!
Let's go walkin' with God today...and remember, when you can "walk" no longer, when the burden gets TOO heavy, HE will pick you up and carry you all the way. Now believe it...put on those walking shoes--step two, three, four--and we'll all have a great, walk-or-march, wonderful, choco-rich day!

Lord, "walking by faith" is an adventure, but I'd have it no other way. YOU are my guide and You lead me in paths I have not known; You walk with me, You carry me when I can walk no more, You love me and will lead me ALL the way home--I trust You, In Jesus' Name, Amen."
