Abram didn't have a plane, train or taxi....he WALKED.....Now that struck me as slightly amusing one week last year, as I had an accident in my home and was limpin' to beat the band.....Sprained my ankle and my husband was in charge to see that I followed doctor's orders and "walked" in the ways of medical remedies to restore my gait to a normal one.
I limped, and it hurt, of course - but that was not the worst of it. It was this wonderful doctor's wonderful "cure": Soak the foot in HOT water for four minutes, then in ICE water for four minutes; do this twice a day, and this sports-medicine remedy will work wonders to heal the hurt and help me walk again - like Abram, of course.....
Now I agree that doctors are far more educated than me - but this doctor of chemistry that belongs to ME sure enjoyed being my boss to see that I did what the doctor ordered. He was in charge of this limpin' lady, at least for the time being - chuckle - as I froze my poor foot in that icy water......
So what's this got to do with Abram? Nothing really, except just as he walked with God and obeyed God's word and commands, in good times and bad, just as he received God's richest blessings, so do I - whether I fly, walk, ride or LIMP.....I'm on God's side, loved by Him, cared for by Him, and directed by Him - through the hot or icy waters of life, He's there...and it's all for our good.....Now believe it, in whatever waters you are limping through today.....
God is with you, God is for you - and you're going to make it just fine. Abram did (even Jacob, his grandson, did - and he had a legitimate limp from the Lord, remember?) and we will too; walking - and even LIMPING - with the Lord is an adventure of a lifetime. Enjoy it - find something funny in whatever YOU are going through, and you'll have a wonderful, God-directed, Christ-honoring, choco-rich day!
