Now THIS is funny! One day I sat here writing this devotional and eating a baloney sandwich for lunch. Now there's nothing particularly funny about eating a baloney sandwich for lunch...but on that day, THAT'S what I heard caught the fleeing bunch of Alabama's prison escapees the other day...a bunch of baloney sandwiches! Seems they stopped for lunch somewhere--specifically to get some baloney sandwiches--and as of this writing, all six of the rascals were caught! So much for the power of baloney sandwiches--far greater that we ever dreamed!
Someone ELSE likes BALONEY--and he feeds it to us daily! "You can't do that" - "You're no good!" - "You are going to fail" - "You are a dummy!" - "You are a pretty poor Christian" - and the personal attacks go on and on, until you sit a withering, blithering mess--taken in by a BUNCH OF BALONEY! He's a liar, "the father of lies, and the truth is not in him!"
No more! It's all a BUNCH OF BALONEY! Tell the rascal to go back where he belongs. Your Lord affirms you and confirms you--you are a blessed, beloved child of the King and in HIM, you can do and be ALL THINGS...Feed on His Word, drink from HIS well--and your cup will overflow with the goodness, grace and blessing of the Lord. HIS Word is true--you can count on it.
And so now, devil, hear this: we'll not settle for baloney from YOUR table--not when we've got good meat and drink from the banquet table of the Lord. We receive from His gracious, upbuilding bounty today--and know we WILL have a good day....and now, BACK to that baloney sandwich--the one that *I* made--and I'm a fine cook!
