The trickster--who is he? There are three possibilities for me--first, there's my kids. Two teenage boys full of mischief and fun began their trickster careers at an early age--what one did not think of, the other did. One of my favorite stories is the time I asked them both to hang up their coats....Little did I realize what would be the end result....they attached long rope to the coat collars, attached the rope to the bannister and made pulley-sort of contraptions going way down the open stairway...."Well, Mom, you TOLD us to hang up our coats!"
Second possibility? There's my Lord...now this one is a clear-cut elimination, for you see, no way is my Lord--or your Lord--going to trick us as we walk with Him. He does not tempt His kids to sin, neither does He make promises that He will not make good. He does not hide His Will from us, nor does He put us in the middle of the sea and leave us there to drown. He is a GOOD God...and He is NO trickster!
Third possibility? This one is a dead-ringer for the culprit, the REAL trickster of my life...and you guessed it. The devil, with his host of imps, knocks at my door daily, attempting to enter my mind, my heart, my soul and my spirit with all his deception, doubts and dirt! I have two choices: I can answer the door and let him bring harrassment and confusion all over the premises (remember, he can oppress but he cannot possess!); or I can send JESUS to the door, let HIM answer and the devil has to flee!
Now who's the trickster in YOUR life? The same one as mine, I'm sure....well, tell him to take a hike today....or better yet, send Jesus to the door...HE will take care of him. Now believe it--don't put up with that wily old trickster in your life today--and you will have a victorious day!

Lord, be my shield and my protector--be the "Man of the house" in my life today--I'm your responsibility and you will never let me down. I trust You, In Jesus' Name. Amen."
