It was a rainy, dreary day in the Ozarks, not a good day to "soar" - even when you're "Superwoman!" But this devotional was prompted spontaneously by the email discourse of two good friends on the NET - who shall remain nameless...grin - as they commiserated about their woeful tales of "One Day in the Life of a Superwoman!"
Now, if you're a guy, keep reading - because we who own the title of "superwoman" (and that's a whole lot of us!) need the support and understanding of the opposite sex who believe - or like to believe - they are the "superMEN" of this world! Well, we love you--we don't always like you--and we understand that feeling can be mutual.....But we're all in this together--so stick around!!
I quote from my friend's email:
"With knees of steel she kneels on the lawn and gets the weeds---and with
fingers as fast as bullets she types up stories and does a newsletter---with
arms as quick as a train and feet as fast as a race car she gets meals,
cleans house, runs errands and takes care of the kids and one husband (even
superwoman could not take care of TWO husbands!) With a mind like putty, she
wonders where she is going with all of this....grin...
Seriously I "know" all about the superwoman syndrome!!! Been there---done
that---do that!!! It is the woman of today!!! God bless us All!!!!!"
AND that's the secret...God BLESSES us all with grace, and it is only by that grace--and a great sense of humor--that we can soar. You see, we were not meant to only dig in the dirt and pull weeds...not only to take care of our homes, our kids, our husbands, the earth, the world, outer space and whatever else falls our lot...no, we were meant to SOAR, far above all the duties and responsibilities of the stressful lives we lead on this Planet Earth.
Impossible? Not really! God's secret for the "soaring superwoman" is found in Isaiah 40:31--and you can read it in your spare time. Wait a minute--WHAT spare time! No, if we truly want to soar, we must MAKE/TAKE time out of our busy/dizzy days to "sit in heavenly places" with our Lord. If we can sit still for just a few minutes, HE will energize our souls and spirits and quicken our tired bodies--and THEN, through HIS power and strength, we CAN soar with the eagles.
Sounds good--and sure beats pullin' weeds! Superwomen of the world, let's lift our sights above the earth, into the presence of God. Let's soar with the eagles...I can picture it now...women all over the world, with a big "S" embroidered on their work shirts, flyin' like the eagles...fillin' the sky with songs of praise and worship, sounds of laughter and joy....what a sight, what a sound....That's US, gals--let's DO it!
And guys...listen up, help us lighten up, love and appreciate us for who we are (and we'll try to do the same!!)--and we will ALL have a wonderful day!!
