An Encouraging Word for Times Like These
"Fire, Faith and Freedom!"
Three tales to tell--and they're all true!
Tale number one takes us back in time to the Old Testament. A contest was about to begin, as Elijah and the prophets of Baal appeal to their God/gods to consume with fire an altar sacrifice. The prophets beat their heads against the stone altar, so to speak, but their gods did NOT speak! Cry, scream, beg, implore--nothing happened. Now it was Elijah's turn. A simple, earnest, faith-filled prayer to HIS God--and HEAVEN HAPPENED! Fire came down, consumed the sacrifice and let the world know that GOD is GOD--He answers prayers of faith--sometimes with fire--and we are free to praise His Name. What a day--a God-display of fire, faith and freedom for the world to see!
Tale number two takes us further in the OT--this time right to the heat of a fiery furnace. Three young men stand for their faith IN that fire--once again, HEAVEN HAPPENED--this time as a Fourth appeared in the fire, the Son of God. He saw their faith, stayed with them in the fire, the startled king freed them from the flames.....and they were free to praise His Name. What a day--a God-display of fire, faith and freedom for the world to see!
Tale number three takes us back to the Middle East--now fast forward to Afghanistan and two Christian young women, held captive for over 100 days by extreme Islamic fundamentalists. Their fate was in the hands of men of terror--NO, their fate AND faith were in the hands of a God of truth...and HE would see them through. He DID--He saw the faith, heard the prayers, and once again, HEAVEN HAPPENED...a clever blaze of fiery scarves led the rescue helicopter to their exact location...and in minutes, they, and six other foreign Christian captives, were free--to praise His name. What a day--a God-display of fire, faith and freedom for the world to see!
Three tales--all true, and all about one God, a God who can answer by fire, give you faith to stand in the fire, and free you through the fire to praise His Name. "To God be the glory--great things HE hath done!"
...and that's just a faith-filled thought or two from my heart to yours!
