An Encouraging Word for Times Like These
"Our Hiding Place!"
Osama bin Laden is on the run...from one hiding place to another, seeking refuge from those seeking justice. He's a wanted man--and soon there may be no place to hide. But that's not our business--God--and our system of law and order--will take due care of him.
But what about us? Ask Corrie ten Boom, of the famed "Hiding Place" book and movie, survivor of World War II, and Hitler's attack on the Jewish people. She and her family loved the Jewish people, and in their Holland home, hid and protected them from the enemy. One day the hiding place was found, the hidden Jews sent to their death, and Corrie imprisoned in a bit of hell called a concentration camp.
Corrie survived, not just from sheer human will, though that was a part, not doubt. She survived because she had found a hiding place deep in the heart of God...He was her refuge and strength in the pit, where she later testified, "There is no pit so deep but that His love is deeper still."
All America, all the world, has been in a pit made by hell these last few weeks...Osama bin Laden but represents the foe who hates God, goodness, Christ, Christianity, faith and freedom. Satan himself is the real enemy - and there's no hiding from him, EXCEPT in the heart of God, OUR place of refuge.
Fighting fear, anxiety, hopelessness, anger, grief this day? Run to the refuge, the heart of God - He is our hiding place...in Him is our strength and our peace. May He hide us all in the shelter of His wings this day...
...and that's just a thought or two from my heart to yours!
