"Supersize it!" Most likely, you will hear those words at McDonald's--but have you seen kids' jeans lately? Supersize is in--the bigger and the bloomier, the better! I thought I knew all about super-size, and then this week, I discovered, in the middle of back-to-school "stuff," I needed a supersized deal that couldn't be found at McD's or The Gap! I needed God's GRACE in supersize! (Ever shop with teenagers, run the roads, hit the shops--not with your car, but your kids--return to an office and try to regain your sanity??) Well, that's the background for this week's devotion, and if you are the parent of a teen, or remember when you WERE, you will grin along with me, and know I WILL survive by God's grace -- supersized, that is!

Grace, patience, love, understanding--all the qualities we need in our human and spiritual relationships--can be found at the Cross--AND at the Well. Come with me--there's no traffic, no check-out waiting lines, no wrong shirt sizes, not even a backpack to be found--it's all grace, pure grace, from the heart of our loving Lord, who knows and loves us all! He's waiting to freely distribute it to those in need. Come along with me, for I need it badly; do you?

A Helping Word...or Two!

Supersized Grace for the Stresses of Life!

We serve a Lord who understands the practical pressures of life! Ask Martha, as she's busy in the kitchen preparing dinner, while her sister's "busy" in the great room, sitting at the feet of Jesus. The sisters' ideas of "busy" and "important" didn't match, and Jesus was quick to notice. Poor Martha sometimes gets a bad rap; I'm sure she was lovingly preparing a special meal for the Lord, and just frustrated that she had no help! Jesus understood, and while He praised Mary for having her priorities straight, he gently reminded Martha of hers--as He does us...

Can you hear Him say, "Martha, Martha, I JUST want to re-order your life with my peace...take it today--it's YOURS. The dinner is important--but it can wait. Take time to sit at My feet; to wait on ME, the source of your peace!".......And if you listen closely enough, you may hear the Master say it to you! It may not be a "dinner" that's got you uptight. It may be BACK TO SCHOOL, or family concerns and illness; it may be the job, your multi-tasked responsibilities at church, or messy rooms at home, the kids, the traffic lights, the over-strained budget, the under-paid job....WHATEVER, big or small, is stressing you out today, bring it to the Cross. A few minutes at His feet and you'll know His peace--wonderful, deep peace, and supersized--JUST for you!

Supersized Grace for the Sorrows of Life!

We serve a Lord who feels the emotional hurts of life. Ask Mary as she kneels brokenhearted at the tomb unable to find her Lord. He had saved her from an incredibly dark past and she was incredibly grateful. She loved him dearly; her heart was breaking. Nothing could console her; the hurt was real. And then suddenly, she hears a Voice calling her name...."Mary." That Voice--she knew it, who WAS it? Why, it was her risen Lord, who had walked into the circumstances of her brokenness, found her, loved her and healed the hurt...

Can you hear Him call her name, "Mary"? It was personal--He KNEW her by name. He was responding to her heart with His very own sweet and healing presence!....And if you listen closely, you may hear Him call your name. He knows the emotional pains and hurts you have experienced. Perhaps some were of your own making; perhaps others were dealt you cruelly by a loved one or friend. You're hurting--but He knows. He calls to you today to bring your broken heart to the Cross. He waits to respond with His very own healing presence for YOU--and soothing grace for all your hurts. Kneel today in His presence and KNOW His supersized grace, made JUST for you!

Supersized Grace for the Sins of Life!

We serve a Lord who knows our spiritual needs. Ask David as he, in deep sorrow, confesses his sin to the Lord. He's failed the God He loves; he's ashamed and guilty, despondent and defeated, I'm sure (Read Psalm 51.) But our Heavenly Father looked ahead to a day when His Son would bear the sins of the world--those sins included the adultery for which David was so guilty. God forgave His servant, and today we are blessed by his inspired psalms included in God's Word.

Can you picture the Father, in love reaching down to His fallen servant, forgiving, wiping away the tears, embracing him with totally abundant grace? He "restoreth my soul," David writes in Psalm 23, and restore He did! And He'll do it for you. Your sin may be great or small--we all fail the Lord many, many times--but He is ready and waiting to forgive and to offer His grace--in supersize! You need not carry around the guilt and shame of past sins--for He will restore your soul and the joy of your salvation, just as He did David's. Your sin, confessed and forsaken, is forgiven by the power of His blood. Receive His forgiveness today--it's waiting at the Cross for you--abundant, supersized grace--JUST for you!

God's grace is so amazing--
It's supersized for the stresses of life--
He understands the practical pressures and He reorders our lives with His peace.

It's supersized for the sorrows of life--
He responds to our hearts with tender love and His awesome presence.

It's supersized for our spiritual needs--
He restores our souls by the power of His Blood!

Won't you receive His supersized grace today??
