Word...
Remember the love letters of long ago--the ones you got as a young girl--or you sent as a young man? Sentimentally inspected for every nuance that might be hidden in the message; cherished and read a million times, stuffed under pillows to sleep on--don't laugh, you did it too! And then there was the sad ceremonial letter-burning when love died--the tears and heartbreak that would never go away. But it did--and we're here to testify that young love is survivable; that real love is sustainable--and that love letters in the sand God creates don't have to wash away with the tides of time...
But enough sentimentalizing. Let's talk about "the bug that 'byted' the world" last week! Believe me, the "love letter" email attachment that contagiously and viciously multiplied around the world was no tender, true-love testimony of the heart. It was a down-right trick and trauma to the computer world--the "ultimate" love letter! Oh, really? Well, not by far, for come to the Well with me today; meet the Lover of your soul--and reflect on the ultimate love letter of all time--His Word!

"Thy word is true from the beginning, and every one of thy righteous ordinances endureth forver (Psalm 119:160 KJV)."
Love letters and lies? It happens all the time--it destroys the sender; it devastates the receiver. But I know a Lover who is the "Way, the Truth and the Life"--no deceiver is he, nor will He ever be. Our world is full of tales of untruths and relationships that bend under their cruel blows. But remember...His Word is true and trustworthy--I can depend on the sender of THIS love letter...and I will!
The Ultimate Love Letter is Trick-Free!
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning (James 1:17 KJV)."
Love letters and tricks? You'd better believe it. Sweet and tender words, smoothly spoken and sadly exposed. For sooner or later, the trickster gets caught and love comes to naught. You can't build a love relationship on deceit--it won't work--check it out in the divorce courts! But you CAN build it on openness, communication and a depth of love that comes only from a real Father's heart. He loves us--openly and with clarity of expression and transparency of thought. There's no intent to deceive; we can trust Him with our lives. I can depend on the sender of THIS love letter...and I will!
The Ultimate Love Letter is Fail-Proof!
"...there hath not failed one word of all his good promise... (1 Kings 8:56 KJV)."
Love letters and promise-breakers? It's a sad reality of life...promises made in the warmth of love's beginnings can turn cold down the long lane to life's end. Promises made to be broken--unworkable, unattainable, unreliable. But I know a Lover whose promises never break. His Word IS His Promise--and it's true, reliable, attainable and workable. It works through the "hard stuff of life" - it holds you strong when you're weak; safe when you're afraid; secure when you're in doubt. I can hang on to the promises of God for my life--and I will!
The "love bug" that "byted" and "blighted" the world this week will probably give way to a new one next week--unfortunately, that's life in our technological world. We will soon learn to take all "love letters" on the Web with a grain of salt, not sugar--or trauma to our systems and our sanity may result! And we can all do that--with proper caution and care (see the links below). But there's one so-called "love bugger" that's more deadly than them all--the one that tries to take from your heart the "love letters" that God has put there. Don't let him do it! "Kill him dead" with the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. For God's "Love Letter" is undeniably undefeatable; it will endure the tests of time, the torment of any trickster, and the trauma of any threat. It's eternal--and it's ours to cherish, believe, and trust with our life. I will--won't you?!!
