Monsters--a topic of great groans and grave delight to kids getting ready to trick-or-treat the neighborhood--the scarier, the better, so they claim. I'm not into monsters for myself--there's more than enough real, scary stuff in this wicked old world to suit me, how about you!
Now I know that although make-believe monsters may be knocking on my door on Halloween night, and we'll have candy to pacify and feed them, and although make-believe monsters may show up on my TV screen as I flick through the channels, there are certainly no real nor make-believe monsters under my bed--and there are most certainly no real nor make-believe monsters in my house...or are there??
Come along to the Well--take off your mask first (HE sees right through it anyway!), and let's look at some monsters that may be lurking around my house--and yours. They're crafted by the monster-maker himself and designed to create MAYHEM, whatever that is, wherever they go. Webster says it's "any situation characterized by violence, confusion and noise." Are you game to take on the monsters? With Jesus, you're safe--so let's check them out!

Monster of Fear...Master of Peace!
Watch out! There's a monster of fear out to steal your peace. He will paralyze your spirit, terrify your soul, and manipulate your mind. You see, he was created by the monster-maker himself, the grand old father of lies and author of fear. The truth is not in him nor his monstrous aide hard at work to terrify you and rob you of the peace of God. So what to do?
FEAR NOT--for the Master of Peace is in the house! His Name is Jesus--He casts out all fear--and He's here to bring His love and peace to your heart today. Hear His Word:
"There is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear (1 John 4:18)."
Now, believe it--and monster of fear, be gone in the Name of the Lord!
Monster of Darkness...Master of Light!
Watch out! There's a monster of darkness roaming around day and night attempting to kill your joy. He's violent, all right, and will try to wipe out every ounce of joy you've got. He wants to replace it with his own dark thoughts, depressive feelings and distorted view of life--and should he get you OUT of the house, it's only to take you to HIS "fun house"--the fake joy of the world that will not satisfy, but bring further darkness. So what to do?
LET JOY ARISE--for the Master of Light is in the house! His Name is Jesus--He brings joy to the heart--and He's here to dry your tears and delight your soul. Hear His Word:
"...Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning (Psalm 30:5).
Now, believe it--and monster of darkness, be gone in the Name of the Lord!
Monster of Mad...Master of Love!
Watch out! There's a MAD monster trying to break into your heart, to destroy love for God, love for yourself, and love for your fellow man. Anger is his middle name--and he's out to let it consume your thoughts, your spirit and your very soul. Unforgiveness, resentment, and finally, hard-hearted rebellion toward God will haunt your darkest nights if you let this monster control you. So what to do?
LET LOVE REIGN--for the Master of Love is indeed in the house! God's love can cover any hurt, any misunderstanding, any hard feelings--when they're left at the foot of the Cross! Hear His Word:
"...Let us love one another; for love is of God,
and everyone that loveth is born of God, and knowth God (1 John 4:7)."
Now, believe it--and monster of "mad," be gone in the Name of the Lord!
The old monster-maker would love to make a mess in your house--to turn it into a haunted mansion of violence, confusion and noise. BUT remember, there's a Monster-MOVER who lives in your house. He wants and waits to fully reign there. Let the Master of Peace, Light and Love rule in your life today--and the monsters will BE GONE in the Name of the Lord!
