Are you hurting? Then you've come to the right place--the place where long ago a woman from Samaria found help and healing. From human answers? No--from the One Who IS the Answer! Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, awaits us all at the Well today--come with me, and let's meet Him there!
Peggie's REAL Place is almost as wild, wacky--and wonderful--as her web page, and once upon a time, several years, ago, she proved it! True story, straight from the turkey's mouth...
I'm a good cook--and I make GOOD Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners--turkey and all the trimmings. The turkey leftover, like yours, is sliced for sandwiches--to the bone--and what happens to the bones? Well, the carcass is transferred to the downstairs "extra" fridge, looking forward to some delicious turkey SOUP....or SO it is supposed to be!Move the story ahead from December's Christmas dinner to February. We had a good friend visiting, and one day as we went downstairs and walked by the refrigerator, we caught a "whiff" of something suspicious--and it was not good! I opened the refrigerator door and to my horrified embarrassment (and the delight of my friend who LOVED the whole scene), there sat the stinking, rotting carcass of the December turkey, forgotten, forlorn and forever to be remembered by friends around the nation. For as the story got told and re-told, it grew bigger and bigger, and I became the turkey queen of Peggie's Place...I now reign in royal splendor as my friends avoid my kitchen and my cooking in exaggerated turkey-phobic fear!
But enough about me....what about the turkey--at your house and mine? No, not your husband, wife, or ornery kid--I mean the TURKEY! That poor abused, blessed fowl we enjoy at our holiday banquets The one who literally gives his life that we might leave the table literally stuffed and satisfied! This devotion is about the lessons we learn from him! Let's get up from the table long enough to walk to the Well - we need the exercise after Thanksgiving dinner anyway - and see what Tom Turk can teach us!
A Helping Word...or Two!
Turkey Blessings!
I am Tom Turk, your blessing of the day. ONE of them, that is. Wasn't too happy to SURRENDER my life; wasn't overjoyed to SACRIFICE my all--but the SUPPLICATION of thanksgiving I hear from your table tells me it was WORTH it all. Giving to the Lord is like that too--I can't do it, but YOU can!
Surrender your life to HIM; sacrifice your all and do it with joy. The supplication that follows will be pleasing to your Lord--for as you give your life in total submission to Him, He sends His bounty to your table of life--more than you can possibly contain. Try giving yourself away this holiday season--and you will enjoy the rich blessing of the Lord!
Turkey Bones!
I am Tom Turk, the leftover--well, that's how SOME people look at me, day AFTER Thanksgiving. A cast-off, tossed aside turkey--the good STUFF gone (nice pun there, eh?), nothing but bones! NOT SO, Tom Turk. The cast-off, tossed aside bones are about to turn into a delicious broth, with noodles, vegetables, hot biscuits and more--to be used again by the master cook who knows just the right spices to throw into the pot to serve a winning bowl of hot, savory soup to all!
Ever check out the "Service after Sixty" crew? The Christian seniors who are far from being tossed out, cast away and done in by the Lord. He recruits these retirees all over again--makes some wonderful nutritious "soup" as they give and give and give again to bless their world. Take a peek in the kitchen and you'll see past and present servants of the Lord--Abraham, Moses, Corrie ten Boom, Mother Teresa, Billy Graham--and of course, don't forget the late Colonel Sanders of Kentucky Fried CHICKEN fame! God bless these veterans and more who have served and do serve the King...still a blessing to everyone they touch.Know one? You ARE one? Celebrate the blessings and goodness of the Lord...and remember, ThanksGIVING is not about GETTING--it's about GIVING! Ask the turkey soup gang--have another bowl, another biscuit--then go out and bless YOUR world today!
Happy Thanksgiving from Peggie's Place to your place
wherever on planet earth that may be!

"Lord, I receive so much from Your hand; I am blessed beyond measure. Help me find a way this Thanksgiving season to give of Your love and joy to a hungry world who need to know You; may I not only receive but reach out with a thankful heart to bless my world, In Jesus' Name, Amen.
