As I sit on the beach listening to the sounds of the surf--I wish! Actually, I'm sitting in my Midwest office listening to my new nature CD, and the sounds of soft piano and crashing waves--and that's the best I can do for now! You see--there are four passions in my life--my Savior, my sweetheart, my sons, and my sea!! Now the sea, of course, is not mine, but I claim it! The source of the first three passions DO have rhyme and reason--the fourth does not. It remains a mystery why the ocean holds such an intense attraction for me--especially when I'm afraid of water and can't swim!
Now before you all invite me to your beachfront homes, (or offer me free swimming lessons, and I WILL decline...smile...), let me explain that since I somehow seem to find a devotional in everything I see, I just knew that somewhere in this passion of my life lay a devotional, just waiting to be written. And here it is! Enjoy God's ocean of love with me!
A Helping Word...or Two!
There's might!...Listen to the sound of the crashing waves; they wash ashore, and everything not anchored is swept away. For there's power in the sea--and its power speaks to me. For you see, the Master of the sea is the Master of my life. He alone has ABUNDANT POWER to strengthen me in my weakness, to encourage me in my distress, to supply my every need. The strongest storm of life must bow at HIS command, "Peace be still." I listen to the sound of the sea He made--and I am strong--for I serve the Master of the Sea--He loves me, and I praise His Name!
There's majesty!...See the beauty of the rolling surf--watch its soothing stillness overflow in wave after wave of thundrous wonder and delight! For there's majesty in the sea--and its majesty speaks to me. For you see, the Master of the sea is the Master of my life. He is the Fairest of Ten Thousand, the Lily of the Valley, the Bright and Morning Star. The One so marred by our sin and shame stands in majestic beauty at the right hand of the Father. He alone has AWESOME BEAUTY to bring into my life--He is the restorer of love, of relationships; of peace and of praise. I absorb deep within my being the beauty of the sea--and I am alive once more to live and to love--for I serve the Master of the Sea--He loves me, and I praise His Name!
And there's more!...Look out across the surf and the stillness--you know there's more! More than the eye can sea, its endless supply speaks to me. For you see, the Master of the sea is the Master of my life. "Out of His infinite riches in Jesus, He giveth and giveth and giveth again." He alone has a boundless supply of AMAZING GRACE to meet my daily needs--to forgive my yesterdays, to heal my todays, to be enough for my tomorrows. I dip my small cup into the wide ocean of His grace, and it overflows. I am equipped once more to handle the struggles and battles of life--for I serve the Master of the Sea--He loves me, and I praise His Name!
Oceans of love from the Father--oceans of praise from me! I stand by the shore and drink in its might and majesty--and I know there's more--more than enough to meet the needs of my life. The billows of His love overflow, as does the praise of my heart! For the Master of the sea is the Master of my life--and that's enough for me--and for you too!
And that's just a word or two--from my heart to yours!
