"Heart 'n Soul: Don't Lose It!"
I don't know much - but I do know that the "heart," as mentioned in the Bible, is more than a mere, amazing muscle.....It is the seat of the soul, where our emotions, feelings, failings and fright get all tangled up together......or is that the brain? Is there a med school professor, psychologist or theologian in the house??
A troubled "heart 'n soul" IS, sadly enough, the "norm" these days as distraught investors and down-to-earth, hard-working people, watch stock market declines and all the tremors shaking our world just this past week! Not to mention terrorism, politics, natural disasters - and our personal worlds filled with the troubles, trials and tribulations of life!
But all is not lost! HE was troubled that we might NOT be! The heart 'n soul of Christ was crushed beyond our comprehension; broken that our hearts and souls might be healed, not hurled into hell! Hearts do break apart; "lost souls" do roam our streets - but all is not lost; help is near!
The God of Gethsemane, the Christ of the Cross, lives today to find broken hearts, to redeem lost souls....don't lose your heart 'n soul to this world - its goods, its glamor, its grunge - give it to Jesus, broken pieces 'n all. That's why He came - to be Your substitute and Your Savior. He is able and willing to meet your every need today - heart 'n soul!!

Walk in Worship - A prayer!
Today's prayer: "Lord, some days I feel like I'm losin' it - and today is one of those days! My "heart 'n soul" are troubled--and it's more than a song; it's reality in my broken world today. Heal the broken places; restore the joy of my salvation. I know You are the source of my strength--You died that I might live, really live. You did it all of me - and I need You today, Lord, more than ever before. Hear my cry, In Jesus' Name, Amen."

"Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour:

by Peggie C. Bohanon, Writer and Webmaster of Peggie's Place!
Oh, no, here comes the English teacher who wants to know if my title is grammatically incorrect.....is "heart 'n soul" one and the same? Singular? Melted together? Mysteriously one? I'll leave that to the English majors to figure out.....I just know it's an old song...and the "heart" of my devotional today.

An inspirational poem by Ruth Martin
My thoughts did dwell on Thee;
And in that holy atmosphere
I remembered--Calvary.
My heart did weep as I did taste
The wine and broken bread.
Broken bread,
Broken Flesh,
Broken Heart...for Me.
I saw again the angry mob.
I felt Thine agony:
I saw Thy bleeding, smitten form
And knew it was for me.
For me, the Cross Calvary!
For me, the cruel shame !
For me, the matchless Sacrifice !
For me,
For me
The blame.
The suff'ring and the shame, O Lord,
The Sorrow--it was Thine;
But not the guilt that nailed Thee there
For every sin was mine.
Mine, the guilt that crucified--
Thine, the Grace that frees!
Thine, the shout of Victory
For me,
For me,
For me.
