Where Are the Ravens??!!
Down the Path to the Well--a thought to remember along the way
Remember the story of the prophet Elijah who went down to the brook, at God's command? The poor prophet was probably worn out from doing God's work, needing a break--a rest by the brook--and of course, something to eat! (Why are so many of my devotionals about FOOD...grin...) Back to the subject! God sent him "room service by air"--ravens who fed him in the morning and at evening; God provided the brook for water, and Elijah was satisfied.
So where are the ravens when *I* need them? I could sure use a few ravens around here--not to feed me, but to fix up my house--to clean my sons' rooms, do the yard work, write my daily devotionals, do my laundry, and....ok....doing meals would be great too! I'm carrying a heavy load--and you probably are too--but you see, ravens aren't the answer; God is!
I don't believe He will send ravens to do the work my boys or I should do...He "helps" us help ourselves--He provides the grace and we provide the grit! We WORK until Jesus comes, and He will somehow help us all--ravens or NO ravens! I don't look for the ravens--I look for my Redeemer who is goodness, grace and glory--who strengthens me daily to do the task He has called me to do.
Now...where are those boys!! It's time for THEM to clean THEIR rooms...grin....."God helps those who help themselves!" And when we CAN'T help ourselves, heaven sends in the ravens-- ravens of His provision for exactly what we need! His Word, His mercy, His strength, His goodness, His grace and glory are all on their way to you. Get ready--you're about to have a yard full!
Believe it--hold onto His GRACE for the things you CAN do; hold onto His GOODNESS for the things you CAN'T do--He will give the GLORY and you will have a great day!
Delight in a Word from the Well--a refreshing in the Water of His Word
"For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory. No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man who trusteth in THEE (Psalm 84:11,12)."
Draw from the Well--a prayer for renewing strength for this day
"Lord, where are the ravens when I need them? OK, I know that YOU know my limitations; You know what I can or cannot do, and You will provide for my needs--either by giving me grace and wisdom or by sending a miraculous intervention. I can trust, knowing You are trustable--You are my God and will take care of everything I need, In Jesus' Name, Amen."
