I read a delightful book years ago about an Italian immigrant "mama," trying to feed and maintain a large family with little means. This lady had a wonderful relationship with her Lord, and when in need would simply call, "Hey, God!" and in her broken, simple English, once she got God's attention, would matter-of-factly tell Him her need--and get miraculous results. My favorite story was the time she asked God to "multiply the spa-ghetts" as she needed to serve guests and had not enough food. Her son, in the book, "Hey, God!", tells the amazing story of the spaghetti actually multiplying before the family's eyes, as God somehow stretched the pasta to feed the whole crowd.Well, I don't need any more pasta on top of all I've eaten this past week, including a sumptuous Italian feast, so that's not my problem! But I AM tired, just returning from a hectic, wonderful Gospelcom ministry conference in Chicago, Illinois. My head--and my tummy--are full, my feet drag, my muscles ache, my body's worn down--and I am worn out! This morning I dragged myself to the kitchen and absent-mindedly cried, "Oh, LORD!" And what happened?
Nothing! He didn't immediately dispatch an army of angels to make my breakfast, do my laundry or answer my emails. But I know He HEARD that cry and He knows how to handle it all, far better than I do. He's there, He's THERE, HE'S THERE, however I--or any Italiano mama--calls, and He will hear and help. How do I know?
I've read the Book! I've heard Him heed a mother's panicked heart; a prophet's earnest plea; a blind man's desperate call; the disciples' frightened cries--on and on in the Bible, I've read of people crying out to God for a multitude of reasons. No--it's NOT a one-way conversation--THIS Italiano mama was not talking to a brick wall. He hears and He responds. It may be a friend's encouragement, a verse from His Word, a whisper within the heart, a telephone call, an email, or yes, even a miraculous multiplication of the pasta--whatever--but He WILL respond.
What's your heart's cry today? You may sigh, "Oh, LORD!" in weakness or woe; you may scream, "Oh, LORD!" in panic or pain--makes no difference. Whether you are frightened, fearful, frantic--or frazzled, as many of us are, watch for His visit today. He KNOWS and He HEARS. One little--or LOUD--cry, whatever the words, and He'll be there--to heal, to strengthen, to calm, to uplift--whatever the need, He's there to respond. He's there, He's THERE, HE'S THERE, wherever you are--believe it and have a great day!

Delight in a Word from the Well--a refreshing in the Water of His Word
Psalm 34:1-22 (KJV)
"The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry (Psalm 34:15 KJV)." Draw from the Well--a prayer for renewing strength for this day
Prayer: "Oh, LORD--we come to Your throne from around the world today. Some of us are weary; others are in distress, affliction, turmoil, fear and pain. We call upon Your name and ask for Your help. We are confident that You hear and answer prayer--the words are not important; the heart IS. And so from our hearts, we cry unto You with our needs. Hear and answer in ways that will astonish us and confound our world, in Jesus' Name, Amen."
