No, it's not a new song in our hymnals--it's a new phenomenon happening "at the pole" in schools around our nation and world. For several years now, Christian students, teachers, staff and administrators are gathering around flag poles to pray for their schools, their nation, themselves and their world. It is a remarkably creative event, for when you can't officially pray IN school, you just go outdoors, find a flagpole and proceed to pray around it THERE! I'm proud of our kids--may we, as adults, be as ready to stand up for our Lord wherever He has placed us!Another remarkable See You at the PoleŠ day took place way before any of us were born, even before Jesus Christ was born. Moses, superintendent of a large Hebrew "school" faxed a notice to all "students" that an event was about to happen "at the pole" and they had better be there! And be there, they were--for these unruly people, disobedient to God's laws, had been bitten by snakes. God, in His loving compassion and wanting to teach a lesson, instructed the "schoolmaster" to place a serpent on a pole. Whoever looked upon that serpent would live.
Now no kid--or adult--wants to die by snake-bite, and I'm sure most of them showed up "at the pole" - they looked and they lived. God taught them all a valuable lesson that day...and WE can look back and see it clearly. We can READ it clearly, for "...as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:14,15)." He died that we might live--abundantly, triumphantly, trusting in His all-sufficient grace.
We've all been bitten by that old "snake in the grass," Satan himself. But God has a remedy--His Son! And it's to Him, we can "look and live"--for the love, peace, joy, and forgiveness that only He can give. As a sinner, a seeker or a saint, there's life-giving hope for us all. Meet you "at the pole," the beloved old rugged cross--a gathering place for us all! Believe it--and have a great day!

Scripture: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek (Romans 1:16)."Draw from the Well--a prayer for renewing strength for this day
"Lord, thank You for students and school personnel who today are proudly proclaiming to their peers their faith in Jesus Christ. They take a stand to pray for themselves, their classmates and their world--and we applaud them. Lord, give us courage to stand for You wherever on planet earth we are--and help us all to run to the Cross that we might "look and live," in Jesus' Name, Amen."
