"Now I lay me down to sleep"--and that's where this true adventure begins. The ring of the telephone one Sunday night broke into my night's dreams, or whatever state you are normally in at 2:30 in the morning--it was from South Korea! It was 6:30 p.m. THERE--and my good friend had NO idea what time it was HERE...very apologetic, when realizing the strange time of the night.
We laughed at the mishap, and I was soon explaining evidences for our faith--in the middle of the night--to this wonderful young man God had sent my way on the Web several months ago. From a Hindu background in India, now studying in South Korea for a doctorate, he eagerly hungers for the things of God--and is an earnest new believer in Christ--and my good friend.
I hung up the phone, laughing with delight, for you see, I had just that night heard a missionary speaker say, "It's God's job to do the miracle...it's my job to be available!" And I had knelt and prayed as I've done so many times before, "Lord, I'm available!"
Our TIMELESS Lord indeed took me at my word--and joined two different time zones of the world to meet a young man's need. Now we'll get our times synchronized better next time--but what a lesson I learned and can now share with you! "I really AM available, Lord...wake me up anytime to be used by You!"
...and He can use YOU today too....somehow, somewhere--and even in the middle of the night! Won't you pray with me, "Lord, I'm available, day OR night." Then get ready--God's got a great sense of humor--and He may just take you at your word!
