"Foot and Mouth Disease!"--you THOUGHT it was a livestock disaster...and indeed, it was. European countries tried to cope with the crisis of the spreading "Foot and Mouth Disease" as livestock were stricken with this deadly menace; people can carry the disease so that even clothing and pathways become contaminated. Dangerous stuff--but WE can't get it, for we're human and this virus does NOT attack humans...but wait a minute...
You see, there's another "foot IN mouth disease" that's been spreading among us ever since Adam and Eve walked down the pathways of the Garden. Its viral germs attack every time we put our foot in our mouth...or our mouth in our foot! You've never had it happen to you? Then you're one of those perfect ones that make me nervous. You see, it's easy for me to "open mouth...insert foot" and if you are honest, it's a problem for you too! It got Eve in trouble in the Old Testament, and Peter in trouble in the New...it can get us in potential trouble every time we "open mouth...insert foot!"
It's a SIN problem, as old as Adam and Eve...and no podiatrist or orthodontist can begin to cure it! But God can! He made a way of redemption for Eve; He renewed and restored Peter--and He can help us too! He can direct our words AND our ways so they bless and not blast the people we love--so we walk beside and not over the ones with whom we work!
Let Him direct your talk AND your walk today! Ask Him, the Great "Foot and Mouth" Specialist, to especially guard your feet and grace your words! He will help you keep that foot out of that mouth today; He'll keep you from stepping on someone with it too--then you and those around you will have a MUCH better day!!
