I have a friend who's a "music maker"...and he's good! You agree too, I know, for you hear the music of this wonderful songwriter and his colleagues on the many pages of Peggie's Place. You write and tell me how this beautiful music ministers to you (even had a mom write once to tell me it quieted down her colicky baby!). Elton Smith, webmaster and musician of "Songs of Praise" has dedicated his talent to the Lord, and the Lord uses him--and his friends--greatly to bless our hearts.
One day he wrote me to check out a brand new song, "Now Arise." Then he re-wrote me to give me the story behind the song--and that's the source of my devotional today! How do you make a song? I have a another Friend who's a "Music Maker" - and He's REALLY good! He's God! And HE can make within your heart a melody of worship and praise, or joy and hope, or WHATEVER you need. He's the original Maker of music--and just when you think you've lost your song, the Composer shows up and re-creates the song, even in the darkest of nights.
Are you in a pit of darkness and despair today? Arise! Let the Composer of heaven's music give you a song this day--and then remember, no devil in hell can snatch away the song GOD gives! Believe it and have a joyful day!
Delight in a Word from the Well--a refreshing in the Water of His Word
"...he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God; many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord (Psalm 40:3)."
Draw from the Well--a prayer for renewing strength for this day
Lord, I've lost my song, and along with it, my joy, peace and hope in You. I've let the devil rob me of the music YOU placed within my heart--and I know he can't take it away--unless I LET him! Lord, he's a liar--the song's not gone--it's just buried under a pile of JUNK. Remove the JUNK, Lord, and give me spiritual ears to hear a new song of praise arise within my heart this day, In Jesus' Name, Amen."
