(This poem is based on a mental image the Lord gave me recently, not a vision, but a clear imagery of spiritual warfare taking place in my life, and of the significant role of angels in my life....and yours too!!)
Awesome angels sent from God, unseen and guarding my life;
Ready and able with crisis-control to protect me from all strife.
God's placed them near me to guard His child,
Yet the picture is not complete - for that enemy is wild.
But look - a Cross stands before me where I kneel in my despair,
Loaded down with "stuff" that needs to be surrendered, a bundle full of care.
Anxiety is the load I hold, in heaviness each day;
Though the weight beneath a smiling face rarely gives itself away..
It's deadly, it's deep, it's beyond descriptive terms;
But to Him who cares I surrender it all with a spirit strong and firm.
For the angels He has given charge of my life are His gift of love to me;
They prove most certainly that I am worth the warfare on that Tree.
And so, I rise amidst all anxious fears and guilt,
On You alone, my Lord and God, my righteousness is built.
I need fear no foe, no warrior so wild,
That YOU can't defend me with Your "grace and truth"- and angels to Your child.
"I am doing a work deep within you that you cannot understand,
But someday it will reap reward with one touch of My healing Hand.
Guarding angels will be with you, near in all My Might,
And protect they will in My power throughout the long, long night."
All heaven will guard as "grace and truth" arise; so lift your hands in praise
Service to Me much greater will be, as voices worldwide will raise -
In love and worship to my caring God who protects His servants true,
Now believe it, and receive it - for that servant of Mine is you!"
