Today's Truth: "SNIPER VICTIM'S PRAYER MAY HAVE BEEN PROPHETIC"
It was just days before an unknown sniper brutally killed her that 34-year-old Sarah Ramos attended a church retreat and wrote a prayer that called on God to watch over her family, according to Cathryn Conroy, CompuServe online News Editor."Her words seem prophetic now: 'I know you will always take care of them. You will not abandon us,' " Conroy wrote.
Conroy said The New York Post reported that the devoted wife and mother of a 7-year-old boy also thanked God for her own life in that prayer.
"A few days later on Thursday, October 3, Sarah Ramos sat down on a park bench to wait for her work carpool. That would be the last thing she would do on this earth. Minutes later she was shot in the head by an unknown assailant who is randomly hunting down the people of Maryland, Northern Virginia, and the District of Columbia," said Conroy.
Ramos, who immigrated from El Salvador three years ago, was the sniper's fourth victim. She would not be the last in this reign of terror, Conroy said.
"She had many hopes and wishes to always to do better and always wanted to follow the path of Christ," Ana Ramos said at her sister's funeral Mass on October 14, The Post reported.
Sarah's brother, Mauricio Ramos, is struggling to deal with the sniper's random killings, Conroy said. "Does he have family? Does he have a brother who would be sad if this happened to him?" he told The Post. "I don't want him dead. My sister will still be dead. He just needs to be caught and put in jail."
