"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine... (Proverbs 17:22)." THE PASTOR'S KITTEN A pastor had a kitten that climbed up a tree in his backyard and then was afraid to come down. The pastor coaxed, offered warm milk, etc. The kitty would not come down.The tree was not sturdy enough to climb, so the pastor decided that if he tied a rope to his car and drove away so that the tree bent down, he could then reach up and get the kitten. He did all this, checking his progress in the car frequently, then figured if he went just a little bit further, the tree would be bent sufficiently for him to reach the kitten.
But as he moved a little further forward... the rope broke. The tree went "boing!" and the kitten instantly sailed through the air - out of sight. The pastor felt terrible. He walked all over the neighborhood asking people if they'd seen a little kitten. Nobody had seen a stray kitten.
So, he prayed, "Lord, I just commit this kitten to your keeping," and went on about his business.
A few days later, the pastor stopped to check on one of his flock. When He knocked on the door, a woman answered. As he stepped into the door, he saw a little girl playing with a kitten.
"Mrs. Brown, I thought you didn't like cats? How did you end up having this one?"
"Well, Pastor, she'd been wanting a cat for quite a while, and I was at the end of my rope with her and this cat business. I told her that she could have a cat when God gave her a cat, and you wouldn't believe it, and I wouldn't have either, but just the other day, this kitten came flying down out of the sky and landed right in her lap!! Now she has a kitten."

THE LAW OF LIFE
Whatever you give away today,
Or think or say or do;
Will multiply about ten fold,
And then return to you.
It may not come immediately,
Nor from the obvious source;
But the law applies unfailingly,
Through some invisible force.
Whatever you feel about another,
Be it love or hate or passion;
Will surely bounce back to you,
In some clear or secret fashion.
If you speak about some person,
A word of praise or two;
Soon tens of other people,
Will speak kind words of you.
Our thoughts are broadcasts of the soul,
Not secrets of the brain;
Kind ones bring us happiness,
Petty ones, untold pain.
Giving works as surely as,
Reflections in a mirror;
If hate you send, hate you'll get back,
But loving brings love nearer.
Remember, as you start this day,
And duty, crowds your mind;
That kindness comes so quickly back,
To those who first are kind.
Let that thought and this one,
Direct you through each day;
The only things we ever keep,
Are the things we give away.
