Welcome to Tower of Strength
Written by Peggie C. Bohanon
"The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
the righteous runneth into it, and is safe (Proverbs 18:10)."

A Christian crisis devotional in light of the tragedy of terrorism that shook the world on September 11, 2001, at the World Trade Center, New York City, and the Pentagon, Washington, D. C. May HIS Name be OUR "Tower of Strength" in the days ahead. Be uplifted as you read this devotional, published semi-weekly (each Tuesday and Friday) for your inspiration and encouragement.
An Encouraging Word for Times Like These
"Terror - or Truth??"
The siren wailed, the lights were shut off, the blinds pulled--and the children ran...under the bed, under the blankets, under Mom's apron--wherever they could find safety from the terror of it all! I'm old enough to remember, as a VERY little girl, those days during World War II--I was the one under the covers! I remember the practice air raids so we would be prepared--just in case, a REAL one would arise. Thank God, it did not--the terror turned to triumph; America won the war.Tuesday, September 11, 2001--and terror struck again, the worst in America's history. WE ran to our TVs, computers, and radios to get the breaking news; we watched in horror the events taking place in New York and Washington, D. C.--and we wanted to hide--surely, it was just a movie thriller, a violent video game, another book in the "LEFT BEHIND" series--it couldn't be real. But it was, and our lives are forever changed.
HOW? Will we live now in terror, in fear, cringing before the enemy, afraid to get on a plane, a train, a bus; canceling the sports events, the concerts, the crowded events we all love to attend? NO! ! We must not let terror overcome the truth--and the TRUTH? Where do we find it? IN GOD'S WORD....the "fear nots" of the Bible must become our PERSONAL "fear nots" of life...for we face the future, not in the fear of man, but in the fear of the Lord.....and in THAT kind of holy reverence and trust, we can KNOW the truth--and it will set us free!
Life goes on--with caution, of course--but not in debilitating, destructive fear. We put our trust in God--for ourselves, our children, our nation and our world. God is still in control...and THAT'S the TRUTH! No devil in hell can stamp out the TRUTH of God's Word or remove it from our hearts. Now let's believe it, let's get on with our everyday lives, let's insulate ourselves with prayer and the Word of God--and we will have a victorious day.
A Scripture reading from His Word, our Strength
"In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence:
and his children shall have a place of refuge (Proverbs 14:26)."
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7 KJV).""Fear thou not; for I am with thee. Be not dismayed; for I am thy God. I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness (Isaiah 41:10 KJV)."Copyright 2001 by Peggie Bohanon, Springfield, MO. Not to be copied without permission.A song and a prayer for His all-sufficient grace
"Lord, there's been a lot of terror around here lately - in our world, our nation, our homes. Our kids are scared--we are scared--but Lord, we choose NOT to live in fear. We choose NOT to live in the fear of man - but in the fear of the Lord, a godly fear that brings not torment, but HIS truth to flood our souls. Help us to hide in You, our refuge, our safety and our peace, In Jesus' Name, Amen."
