Words From the Well!
Meet Ellie--no, she's not a "Barbie" doll of perfect proportions--fashion, face, figure--who lives in a perfect house with a perfect husband, wonderful kids, and house-trained pets! She's not even a perfect Christian--why, heaven forbid--she makes mistakes; she loses her cool; she blows her stack; she hates housework; and some days she even hates herself. You've said you want to be His servant, to be used of Him to minister to His needy world. Then know that you too must meet Him under the tree, at the well, and near the Throne. You must be hurt, as well as they, in order that He may use you to heal. It is a small price to pay for a great reward of service to Your King. Now I KNOW you're just dyin' to meet this woman named Ellie--but sorry, she is not available, for you see, she is under the juniper tree. That's right! She's the female counterpart of the prophet Elijah. Discouraged and disheartened, he ran from the queen to the refuge of the big old juniper tree. And there he sat...and sat...and sat...And so today, in contemporary society, with all its pressures, stresses, and responsibilities, there comes a time, many times, when we women have just HAD it; and to the juniper tree, we head! Ellies of the world unite--let's all gather under this tree, pout a while, and then straighten up and see what God will do!
Of one thing you can be sure, He will not leave you under the juniper tree--unless that's where you WANT to be! But first, just sit back, lean against that old tree, and let HIM minister to your needy soul today!
A Helping Word...or Two!
Under the Tree! Ellie, you feel dusty, distressed and dry, and you need not say a word. For He knows it already. He knows the dusty feet and form need washing; he knows the distressed soul needs to relax; He knows the dry spirit needs to be refreshed. And so He does not condemn you. He loves you, and patiently sits with you. Refreshing will come; now is the time to be still.
In the stillness of the moment, feel His love. And see--you and He are not alone--for He has brought wonderful friends to surround you with comfort, warmth and love. Christian friends with arms that hug and hold you in your pain. Let the peace of God saturate your very being in the atmosphere of His presence. Let His friends minister refreshing warmth to your spirit and uplifting joy to your soul.
And if they'd also like to bring you a glass of iced tea, or a cup of hot cappucino, enjoy it--relish the comfort God is sending you today. Hug a tree? No need to--Jesus Himself is there to love you, hold you, and hear the silent cry of your heart. Let Him!
At the Well! Ellie, don't sit under that tree too long....for if you listen carefully, you will hear sounds of refreshing water nearby...it's coming from the Well...your very favorite place to be, and the Master has already gone before you. He is waiting there for you.
He bids you take the Water of His Word to renew your dusty person--it will cleanse away the soot of your world. He offers you that same Water to relax your tense spirit--it will calm the turmoil and anxieties of your inner being. And that's not all. For He provides you again with the thirst-quenching Water of His Word to refresh your dry soul. It's all there--in its lifegiving flow for you today. He wants to give you the everlasting water that will never run dry. Let Him!
Near the Throne! Ellie, the places of the tree and the well have well prepared you for the place of the throne. Here you will meet your Savior in His strength and power, His everlasting sovereignty. Here you will know His power, find His Will, and see His glory. The Throne Room is open all hours, under all circumstances, and in every situation. He wants to meet you there, Ellie. Let Him!
Ellie, don't give up. The Master is training you for greater service than you have ever known. Let Him do it!
And that's just a word...or two, from HIS heart to yours!
His Healing Word
"Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them who are in any trouble, by the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted of God (1 Corinthians 1:4 KJKV)."
The Juniper Journal If you've never taken time to read Hurt to Heal, an original poem by Peggie, please take time to do so now! May it bless and minister to you this day. "Lord, I am Ellie. I need the rest, renewal and refreshing that come only from You. I've learned, under the tree, that, while You are WITH me there, my SOURCE is not there--it is at the Well, and near the Throne. Help me ever remember that, Lord, and know that in every hard situation, You are teaching me to live in Your Word; You are training me to give in my world. In Jesus' Name, Amen."
