"Going DOWN to the Pit!?!"

So let's go down to the trading pit.....Are you, along with the rest of the world watching the stock market go DOWN, DOWN, DOWN? You watch the news and see nothing but doom and gloom.....what in the world is going on!Now Job, the poor man in our devotional today, knew nothing of stock markets, the trading pit and the like. He only knew he was IN the pit....He had lost everything - his family, his fortune, and - well, there WERE his friends, as Job's friends go - and maybe you know some of them too! Poor Job.....poor me.......
Stop it, all of us! God was watching Job; He was working a plan far beyond Job's place in the pit.....and he's working a plan for you far beyond YOUR place in the pit too......so DON'T GO THERE...and IF you're there, CLIMB OUT!!
God is still on the throne; He watches the affairs of men and has a plan for you, child of God. Your riches lie not in things of earth but beyond. He's already paid the ransom for you in the form of His Son. HE is the King, HE owns the cattle on a thousand hills - and the stock market can't touch them! Believe it - He offers you, His child, His grace today, just like Job......and you can say along with Job, "My redeemeth lives.....(Job 19:25 NIV)."
He LIVES to love, lead and lift your heart this day. So turn around - DON'T go to the pit; go to the fortress of His faithfulness and His amazing grace. Fear not - HE is THERE - HE is the KING - you are His child and you are in His hands!

I woke up early today, excited over all I get to do before the clock strikes midnight. I have responsibilities to fulfill today. I am important. My job is to choose what kind of day I am going to have.Today I can complain because the weather is rainy or I can be thankful that the grass is getting watered for free.
Today I can feel sad that I don't have more money or I can be glad that my finances encourage me to plan my purchases wisely and guide me away from waste.
Today I can grumble about my health or I can rejoice that I am alive.
Today I can lament over all that my parents didn't give me when I was growing up or I can feel grateful that they allowed me to be born.
Today I can cry because roses have thorns or I can celebrate that thorns have roses.
Today I can mourn my lack of friends or I can excitedly embark upon a quest to discover new relationships.
Today I can whine because I have to go to work or I can shout for joy because I have a job to do.
Today I can complain because I have to go to school or eagerly open my mind and fill it with rich new tidbits of knowledge.
Today I can murmur dejectedly because I have to do housework or I can feel honored because I've been provided shelter for my mind and body.
Today stretches ahead of me, waiting to be shaped.
And here I am, the sculptor who gets to do the shaping.
What today will be like is up to me.
I get to choose what kind of day I will have!
Have a GREAT DAY . . . unless you have other plans.

+ + + + + + + One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.Donkey in the Pit!
He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.
As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.
