"It's ten o'clock...do you know where your children are?" Remember that TV one-liner from long ago? Well, not THAT long ago--but our kids think we are ancient, so it IS ancient history to them. But it was a gentle reminder that parents KNOW the whereabouts of their kids. We joked about it, but I'm glad I had parents who cared. I hope you did too!
Whatever kind of family we have originated from--weird or wonderful; silly or sad, there is a big family of God to which we now belong, and HE knows who we are, where we are, and how we feel. Better yet, He knows exactly what to do to take total care of His beloved children! Come to the Well, and let's find out!
He knows who we are!
Our parents did! They knew every nook and cranny of our clever little minds; they knew what we said, why we said it; what we did, why we did it--they didn't miss a trick. Or did they...grin... Parents have a way of "knowing" each child, whether there are two or ten! I know each one of my sons...at least I am "trying" to understand what makes them tick...'cause I'm a parent, and I care!
And so does God! He knows our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual make-up very well..and why shouldn't He? He made us...and we can trust Him. For you see, we're His kid...He loves us...and He knows!
"As a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust (Psalm 103:13,14. KJV)."
He knows where we are! Our parents did...sometimes! I remember calling after a wriggly, crawling Jason as he sped on all fours around our home--this tiny little creature would sometimes lose me, but I always found him. He was my KID--I wanted to know where he was! Now our boys are teens, and I still want to know where they are, where they are going...and probably, when I have to pick them up! But I'm a parent--and I care!
And so does HE! He knows exactly where we are--whether it is on the mountaintop of joy or the valley of despair; whether it's the pits or the palace; He KNOWS and He cares. He is watching--and will not let you stay there one minute longer than needful. Someday when His wonderful plan unfolds, you will understand that He KNEW, all along. For you see...you're HIS kid...He loves you...and He KNOWS!
"But he knoweth the way that I take; when he hath tested me, I shall come forth as gold (Job 23:10 KJV)."
He knows how we feel!
Our parents did...NOT! Often they had no idea of the inner struggles we faced as children, teens, even young adults. They loved us, but could not see deep within our hearts. Sometimes their sixth sense worked, and sometimes it didn't. And the saga continues...for sometimes, with our sons, the sixth sense works; other times I badly blow it! But I AM a parent, and I do care!
And so does He! He knows exactly how we feel--more than any human being ever will. He knows every thought, every distress, every delight, every pain.
He knows what to do!
How often I am amazed by the Lord's amazing love, by His awesome knowledge of how I feel, with answers to prayer right from the throne room of God, in His way, in His Will and in His time.
And I'm no more special than YOU. He knows exactly who you are, where you are, and how you feel. Better still, He knows what to do! For you're His Kid...He knows...and that's enough! Now believe it, receive it, and have a Father-protected, chocolate-covered, wonderful day!
Your assignment: Read Psalm 139 - at least a hundred times!
"Lord, you KNOW me, and that brings with it remorse but relief, for in Your love I am truly known and loved as no person on earth will ever know or love me. I surrender to that knowledge and love today; I will dwell in it this week. I'm Your kid; You know me; You love me. And that's enough! Help me believe it! In Jesus' Name, Amen."
