"Debating with Heaven and Hell!?!"
I was a high school debater--and loved it. Now I'm a home debater--and love it! I debate with my husband (I try and he wins!)--with my kids (they try and I win!). Some exceptions to the rule, of course, and with no moderator to rule the roost, who's to keep score! Keeps a marriage and a family from becoming too dull! And dull, we're NOT...grin!
THAT'S not what I'm here to talk about! For, if you are a USA citizen, you may be listening right now, as I am, to the Columbia University "debate" essentially between the philosophies of freedom and terror. Guest speaker at the podium? President Ahmadinejad of Iran, given freedom of speech as can only happen in a freedom-based society. If you're missing this very controversial one, you've heard political debates of all kind - on TV, on the NET, in the blogs, in the newspapers, at the local coffee shop--you can't escape it!
I have no intention of going political on you...leave that to the experts. But it DOES bring up another thought or two that THIS debater would like to share! I take my place at the podium, timed speech begins--and my topic? Two "Heads of State" with Whom You Should Never Debate!
Debate not with the devil! This so-called "head of state" of the dark world is tricky, sneaky, abrasive--and he will try to beat you at your own game. It's a challenge called life and death, and he's out to make you lose bigtime. Don't give him a platform to stand on--refuse to listen to his tauntings, his temptings, his tirades. He is the "father of lies, and the truth is not in him." Stand up for what you believe--the truth of God's Word. State it to him clearly, decisively, definitively--resist him with the power of that Word and he will flee! There's NO debate--God's Word wins every time--and you don't need to defend it!
Debate not with the Divine! This rightly-called Head of State of heaven's world, the God we serve, is all-knowing, all-wise, all-present--and He has the right answers for whatever's wrong in your life. He IS "absolute Truth." You may not always understand His ways--but if you did, would He be God? I want a God who has higher ways and higher thoughts than mine will ever be--and that's the kind of God I serve. He's righteous, just, never makes a mistake; His ways are perfect--and He asks MY perfect trust and obedience. He stands on a platform of love, peace, joy--and eternal salvation. His laws are pure, His judgments perfect--and His jurisdiction without debate!
To debate...or NOT to debate with heaven and/or hell?? NOT! Save your debating skills for a worthy cause--and debating with the devil--or with the Divine--isn't one of them! Believe it--and have a great day!

Uphold me acccording unto thy word, that I may live; and let me not be ashamed of my hope. Prayer: "Lord, help me never to debate with the devil nor with the Divine! May I give him Your words of authority over which there is NO debate; may I receive from You that same word of authority that says, No debate! "All is well--I am in control; I know the end from the beginning; trust Me." Help me trust You more and more each day as I grow in You, In Jesus' Name, Amen."
