Down the Path to the Well--a thought to remember along the way
So Veterans Day is OVER? Not in BRANSON, Missouri! There's a week-long celebration in this used-to-be tiny town, made famous with its family-friendly entertainment. Branson rolls out the red carpet ALL WEEK for Veterans Day (November 11)--to honor and revere men and women who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States. Veterans come from all over the United States for a wonderful time of remembrance and honor of this special day in the land we love.
Now these wonderful men and women who have served us so honorably have two choices in life. They can celebrate--as they do--with vitality, vigor and victory--or they can vegetate somewhere in a dark, depressed cavern of lost memories, lost limbs and latent fears of the past, present and future. Some of them have been to hell and back--their war stories prove it--but they are alive, wonderful, fun-loving, God-and-country-loving people who grace our world...and we gladly honor them today!
There's ANOTHER celebration taking place on November 12--in Peggie's REAL place, when Father Time prepares to turn the time clock to another year of love, life and laughter. Now never mind the decade in which this wretched man has me captive--all I know is that I don't feel it, I don't act it, I don't look it--and I'm not gonna sweat it! AHA, I really said that--and it's all true except for the sweat part--for there are days that I DO sweat it, I DO fret it, and phooey, might as well 'fess it--I don't like getting old!
Don't ask me where I'm going with this devotional--but I am certainly not on my way to the nearest rocking chair to sit and decay until death do us part! So keep your eye on this totterin', wrinklin', creakin', OLD woman--cause she's about to knock the socks off the man with the time clock--he better run for his life! I'm RUNNING for mine--thanking God for every minute and memory He's given and looking forward, by His grace, to quite a few more...so cancel the cane and let the celebration begin!
Won't you join me, whatever your age, to celebrate the life God gives us all--yes, wrinkles, whacked-out backs, weary bones and WHATEVER--we're ALIVE! He created us to enjoy life, learning and laughter all the days He has designed us to BE--and THAT let us be to His glory and praise!
