Fun 'n Faith for all ages - take a quick tour here!
With great stamina and a burst of sudden energy, Brother Elijah jogs his jolly way to the juniper (tree, that is!)....Ah, how delightful, how fun to do your daily exercise in the beauty and breezes of a lovely summer morning! WAIT A MINUTE....WRONG STORY! For it is with great distress and discouragement, great fright and fear, that Brother Elijah REALLY ran like crazy, away from the wicked queen, all the way to the juniper tree, where he plopped in utter exhaustion, despair and defeat! THAT'S the real story--and weary servant, wherever in this world you are, this devo is for you today!God sees and knows who you are and where you are. You're "under the tree" today, and that's ok...for even God's choicest servants get weary and worn-out, discouraged and depressed. We're all human, remember? And so, while you're under that tree, BEFORE you wipe out in deep sleep to drown out your deep despair, I've got a 3-R reminder for you. No, not another school session, not another TEST--you've had enough of those! I believe if God, our Heavenly Schoolmaster, could speak audibly to all of us today, THIS is what He'd say!
"Weary servant, let Me REFRESH your thirsty spirit in the water of My Word. Let Me RENEW your weary soul at MY nail-scarred feet, even at the altar of that "God-forsaken" tree! Let Me RESTORE your tired body in the warmth of My everlasting arms. You've served Me hard and wholly...now it's MY turn to serve you. Lean on ME!"
Let the Lord quicken these words to your weary spirit this day--and remember, "He giveth His beloved sleep," and it's ok to take a nap--uh...not right NOW if you're reading this on the job, please...grin! And, when you wake up, you'd better WATCH OUT, for there's an angel--somewhere, some place--on his way from the Father's house to bring you food, heavenly food that only He can give. It's uniquely for you, brother or sister of Elijah...and it's straight from the throne room of God. For you are HIS servant, HIS responsibility, and He will ever watch over and protect you from the onslaughts of the enemy--encouragement is on the way!
Believe it--now "RUN," not from the enemy, but to the Cross, an even better shelter than the "tree"--and have a great day!

The Twenty-Third Psalm
Draw from the Well--a prayer for renewing strength for this day
"Lord, I'm under the tree today, "weary in well-doing," tired from hard and heavy service for You. I need Your refreshing, Your renewal, Your restoration to quicken my spirit, soul and body. Lord, I belong to You; I'm doing Your work, and I'm asking for Your touch this day. In Jesus' Name, Amen."
