WHERE is he? WHO is he? In my current Father's Day holiday page, the quest for a perfect dad went across cyberspace....and not a perfect dad was to be found....perfect moms, of course (no, no! I'm kidding!)....perfect kids, of course (no, no! I'm REALLY kidding!). We all know that "perfect people," a great oxymoron, don't exist! We try so hard (especially those crazy perfectionists in our human race, our workplace, our church and our families....and maybe you or me?) and we all fall so flat on our face.
But there's a perfect Father we all know and love...and that's what THIS devo is about today. I have excerpted the notes below from my Father's Day holiday page and hope you will enjoy them--and let your Heavenly Father love you today!

Who IS the perfect Father?
Not MY dad--or YOUR dad either. But wait a minute--is perfection necessary to qualify for effective parenting? Of course not--most of us have been blessed by wonderful dads--loving, kind, and doing their best to handle the most difficult job in the world. So we don't beat them down--we bless them. And if yours was not the wonderful dad you wished for, life is not over--this COULD be the first day of the rest of your life!
For you see, I DO know Someone who is the PERFECT Father--God Himself, our Heavenly Father. He meets every qualification for the task--listen to His words and see!
"Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God...(1 John 3:1 KJV)."
F aithful!
"Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering (for he is faithful that promised) (Hebrews 10:23 KJV)."
A lways there!
"...for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee (Hebrews 13:5 KJV)."
T rustworthy!
"...there hath not failed one word of all his good promises... (1 Kings 8:56 KJV)."
H onoring!
"If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be; if any man serve me, him will my Father honor (John 12:26 KJV)."
E ver-loving!
"...I have loved thee with an everlasting love; therefore, with lovingkindness have I drawn thee (Jeremiah 31:3 KJV)."
R ighteous!
"The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works (Psalm 145:17 KJV)."
S upportive!
"Fear thou not; for I am with thee. Be no dismayed; for I am thy God. I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness (Isaiah 41:10 KJV)."
So where do we go from here? Dads are not perfect, and you may carry on your shoulders and in your heart a world of hurts. I have good news for you! You need carry them no more. For your Heavenly Father who loved the world SO much that He gave us His only Son waits to take YOUR world of hurts and make it His own; to give you new hope and a new beginning. He is your HEAVENLY Father. Your love and esteem now comes from Him. Receive it THIS day--and have the best Father's Day in the WORLD!!

"Thank You, Heavenly Father, for your wonderful, unfailing love and care. I'm not the perfect kid--but I do love you. May you know my heart this day as I praise You deeply for being the perfect Father I need. Be King of my life--this day and every day. And Happy Father's Day to the most wonderful Father I will ever know! In Jesus' Name, Amen."
