A Hurting Word...
Twenty years ago on October 21, 1977, a bride stood poised, excited, and nervous, waiting for the majestic church organ to sound the traditional Wedding March. She looked down the long aisle to find someone waiting for his bride...the "someone" whom God had prepared for her. She was a thirty-something bride--apparently it took God a LONG time to make just the right *someone* for her...but He did it. And now twenty years later, my "someone" and I look back on years that have flown swiftly by. Years of love, laughter, and lessons to be learned by two very strong-willed people! (Who now have two very strong-willed boys--now whose fault is THAT!!)
God had "someone" for me...but behind it all was SOMEONE else, planning, loving, leading my life in His perfect path. For some it is a bridal path; for others, another path of His choosing--but always a perfect path. For that SOMEONE is the Lord Himself--Sovereign Lord who "always gives the best to those who leave the choice with Him." That SOMEONE waits for us all at the Well--for HE is the ultimate LOVE of our lives--the One who satisfies the human heart as no human lover can ever do! Lover of our souls--lead us to YOUR Well today!
A Helping Word...or Two!
S avior--Someone who saves!
"...and thou shalt call his name Jesus;
for he shall save his people from their sins (Matthew 1:21 KJV)."
O mniscient One--Someone who knows!
"But he knoweth the way that I take; when he hath tested me,
I shall come forth as gold (Job 23:10 KJV)."
M ighty God--Someone who is strong!
"Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty,
the Lord mighty in battle (Psalm 24:8 KJV)."
E ncompassing Lord--Someone who surrounds me!
"The angel of the Lord encampeth round about those who fear him,
and delivereth them (Psalm 34:7 KJV)."
O mnipresent Lord--Someone who's there!
"God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1 KJV)."
N ever-failing Friend--Someone who's faithful!
"Nevertheless, my loving-kindness will I not utterly take from him,
nor allow my faithfulness to fail (Psalm 89:33 KJV)."
E verlasting Father--Someone who's forever!
"...his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God,
The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6 KJV)."
Thank God there is SOMEONE for us all--He's EVERYTHING we need!
And that's just a word--from HIS heart to yours!
His Healing Word
"Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God, and everyone that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God (1 John 4:7 KJV)."
"Lord, thank You for being the "SOMEONE" who walks and talks with me--who never fails, never forgets, and never forsakes. When the "someones" of this world don't measure up to those words, help me know there is SOMEONE who does! Thank You, Lord, Amen."
