If you don't already know who Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are, let me introduce you! These funny-name giants are a part of the financial crisis and declining stock market the USA faces this day. They are in great big trouble - so we're told.....but what about ME?

Let me introduce you - I'm a "giant" too - in God's eyes! And I'm usually in financial crisis, often in "big trouble" and some days, my life's "stock market" is down too.....oh, you too? I'm not alone?

The God of truth and justice sees us all today - Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, me - and you.....and we all must give account and receive our just due. Tough stuff - but before you run and hide in the garden (remember Adam and Eve?), let's go to the Cross and to the Light of His Word.

And so how do we as believers stand THERE? Big and tall!! God sees us through the Blood of His Son; His Word declares we are giants in His eyes. He promises to supply our every need; He cleanses us from all unrighteousness, He calls us His own, He gives us life. It's a gift of God and we receive it with joy.

So what about Freddie Mae and Fannie Mac.....I mean Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.....grin.....I'm leaving the government in charge of their fate - God's in charge of mine. That's what matters to ME today - how about you!

Today's Scriptures and prayer for our nation:

2 Chronicles 20:12: "O our God, won't you stop them? We have no way to protect ourselves against this mighty army (in this case, our nation's failed financial systems, greed, and debt). We don't know what to do, but we are looking to you."

20:13-14: "As the people from every part of Judah stood before the Lord with their little ones, wives, and children, the Spirit of the Lord came upon one of the men standing there - Jahaziel ... (a descendent of the Levites)."

20:15: "Listen to me, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem, and you, O king Jehosphaphat!" he exclaimed. "The Lord says, 'Don't be afraid! Don't be paralyzed by this mighty army! For the battle is not yours, but God's!"

Our nation is facing a financial crisis. We (the people) do not know nor can we trust how this has happened (the truth) and we do not know nor can we trust the Federal Reserve, Wall Street, our Congress and nation's leaders' knowledge, understanding or motives. BUT we can trust in our God!

Let us pray in agreement for God to "come upon many of the men" - our Senators, Congressmen, economists, financial analysts, even our President (especially those who are believers, who are descendents of a God fearing lineage). Come upon these men and women who will be directly involved in the discussions and decision-making of what we should do in this crisis. Father, we humble ourselves, confess our sins, turn from our worldly ways and pray for You to heal our land. We pray for You to "come upon" decision-makers with words of wisdom. We don't know what to do so we put our faith and trust in You. We ask for Your help and direction. We cry out to You to save us; and that you will hear us and rescue us. (2 Chronicles 20:9)

An American businessman was at the pier of a small coastal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellow fin tuna. The American complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them. The mexican replied only a little while. The American then asked why didn't he stay out longer and catch more fish?

The Mexican said he had enough to support his family's immediate needs. The American then asked, but what do you do with the rest of your time? The Mexican fisherman said, "I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siesta with my wife, Maria, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos, I have a full and busy life, senor.

The American scoffed, "I am a Harvard MBA and could help you. You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds buy a bigger boat, with the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats, eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a middleman you would sell directly to the processor, eventually opening your own cannery. You would control the product, processing and distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then LA and eventually NYC where you will run your expanding enterprise."

The Mexican fisherman asked, "But senor, how long will this all take?" To which the American replied, "15-20 years."

"But what then, senor?"

The American laughed and said that's the best part. "When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public ad become very rich, you would make millions."

"Millions, senor? Then what?"

The American said, "Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos."

Let's Face It - God Doesn't Care

God doesn't care what kind of car you drive - God cares that you are willing to drive people who don't have transportation.

God doesn't care about the square footage of your house - God cares that you welcome people into your home.

God doesn't care about the clothes you have in your closet - God cares that you help to clothe the needy.

God doesn't care what your salary is - God cares if you compromise your character to obtain or increase it.

God doesn't care what your job title is - God cares that you perform your job to the best of your ability and in a Christian manner.

God doesn't care how many friends you have - God cares that you show friendship and unconditional love to all people.

God doesn't care in what neighborhood you live - God cares how you treat your neighbors.

God doesn't care about the color of your skin - God cares about the content of your character.

God doesn't care why it took you so long to seek Salvation - God cares that you finally did seek His face and accept His grace.
